These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Maxim project and its services, including SMS/MMS messaging. By using Maxim, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Maxim's services, including sending or receiving SMS/MMS messages, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our services.
2. Description of Service
Maxim is an agentic robotics framework that provides a biologically-inspired cognitive architecture for embodied AI agents. Services include:
- An open-source software framework for robotic cognition
- SMS/MMS messaging for communication with the Maxim agent
- Voice interaction capabilities
- Web-based documentation and guides
Maxim is an experimental research project. Services are provided on an as-is basis and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time.
3. SMS/MMS Messaging Terms
Consent
By texting Maxim's phone number, you consent to receive automated SMS/MMS responses. Your consent is not a condition of any purchase.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies. Maxim responds to your messages and may send task-related notifications. You will not receive marketing or promotional messages.
Opt-Out
Text STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Text HELP for assistance.
Costs
Message and data rates may apply as determined by your mobile carrier. We are not responsible for any charges from your carrier.
Supported Carriers
SMS services are available on major US carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others. Carrier support is not guaranteed and may vary.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Maxim's services to:
- Send abusive, threatening, or harassing messages
- Attempt to exploit, compromise, or interfere with the system's operation
- Transmit malicious content, spam, or unauthorized automated messages
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use the service for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to manipulate or bypass Maxim's safety systems, including hard-stop triggers and preemption circuits
We reserve the right to block or terminate access to any user who violates these terms.
5. Intellectual Property
The Maxim framework is open-source software. Use of the source code is governed by the license included in the GitHub repository. The Maxim name, documentation content, and guide materials are the property of their respective authors.
6. AI-Generated Responses
Maxim is an AI system. All responses, whether via SMS, voice, or other channels, are generated by machine learning models and autonomous agent logic. You acknowledge that:
- Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate
- Maxim's outputs do not constitute professional advice of any kind
- You should not rely on Maxim for decisions involving safety, health, legal, or financial matters
- Maxim's behavior evolves through learning and may change over time
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
Maxim's services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Responses will be accurate or reliable
- The service will meet your specific requirements
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Maxim and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the services.
9. Privacy
Your use of Maxim's services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Maxim's services at any time, for any reason, without notice. You may stop using the services at any time. Upon termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will remain in effect, including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and intellectual property provisions.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the services shall be resolved in the appropriate courts.
